Nikola Tesla's History

Have you ever heard of the name Nikola Tesla? You might not be  actually aware of this person but we all have been using the things  invented by this legendary personality. We can say it undoubtedly that  Nikola Tesla is a man of innovative and creative ideas. Through his  greater ideas, several inventions have emerged into the world. With the  advancement in the technology, we have come across tons of new things.  Still, the inventions and discoveries are taking place in the world in a  rapid way.

Nikola Tesla is a man before Independence who brought us a  plenty of useful things for using them in our day to day life. Nikola  Tesla is a popular scientist who had rendered his best services to the  public in the period between 1856 and 1943. Here are some of the Best  Nikola Tesla Inventions. Check it out!

Best Nikola Tesla Inventions

Nikola Tesla is a Serbian-American Engineer and Physicist who had  changed the entire world through this massive number of inventions.  Nikola was born in the year 1856 and turned out as an inventor,  electrical engineer and a lot more. He is popularly known for his  contributions to the contemporary alternating current supply design.  Some of his popular inventions include AC, High Voltage, High-Frequency  Power Experiments and a lot more.

Despite gained fame and respect among  the people, he couldn’t transform his plethora of inventions into a  long-term financial success.

Unlike the Chief Rival of Nikola Tesla  i.e., Thomas Edison, he couldn’t acquire immense recognition from the  world. However, Nikola is quite popular for his intelligent inventions  that turned out as ground-breaking innovations for the entire world.

6 Best Nikola Tesla Inventions

1. Rotating Magnetic Field (1882)

In the year 1882, Nikola Tesla had come up  with an audacious invention when everyone discouraged him. One of his  professors namely Croatia told that it was impossible for him to create  an AC powered motor compared to the Direct Current (DC). After  struggling for a couple of years, Nikola Tesla had finally invented a  rotating magnetic field that lets AC to power an Engineer without the  need of converting into DC.

2. AC Motor (1883)

Soon after the invention of Rotating Magnetic Field, Nikola Tesla  started his experiments on AC Motor. Without the need of mechanical  assistance, the Alternating Current had generated magnetic poles that  eventually reversed the current. This is one of the most popular and  beneficial innovations from Nikola Tesla. He had grabbed immense fame  and attention from the people through the invention of AC Motor in 1883.

3. Tesla coil (1890)

Nikola Tesla invented Tesla Coil in the year 1891. This coil makes  use of a total of 2 coils such as Primary and Secondary. Each coil  comprises of its own capacitor. A capacitor is something that can be  used as a battery that has the ability to store energy. Tesla had a  great obsession of providing power to the cities without the need of  wires. Currently, people in the entertainment field have been using the  Tesla Coil. You can even see these Tesla Coils in some of the museums,  science centers, and few elements are utilized in the radios as well.

4. Radio (1897)

The radio is another great invention from Nikola Tesla in the year  1897. He had initially sent the wireless transmission from his own lab  located in New York City. The things that are associated with Radio are  invented solely by Tesla himself. Some of the inventions related to the  radio include the Antennas, Tuners and a lot more.

5. Neon Lamps

Neon Lights weren’t actually discovered by Tesla. But he had made his  possible contributions to the development of Fluorescent and Neon  Lights into the world. He had carried out various experiments on  electrical particles via gases and developed a total of 4 different  lighting types.

6. Induction Motor

Induction Motor makes use of alternating current. On an induction  motor, you can come across two different parts such as a rotor and a  stator. In the year 1880s, two people namely Tesla and Galileo Ferrari  have worked on the Induction Motor individually.

7. Tele-automation

In the year 1898, Tesla had surfaced the Tele-automation at the  Electrical Exhibition that took place Madison Square Garden. It is a  boat controlled by making use of radio waves which is referred to as  tele-automation. At the exhibition, he had proved all his points that  support the invention of Tele-automation.

Among all the inventions of  Nikola Tesla, Tele-automation is one of the most prevalent  innovations. In a total of 3 different areas, the Tele-automation  invention had gained massive popularity.

In 1895, through the  genius of Nikola Tesla, the Niagara Falls Power Company began sending  alternating current (AC) to Buffalo, NY, twenty-five miles away. Cities  throughout the world followed suit and made commercial AC power  available to the general public, even miles from the power generating  station. As a result, Tesla’s high voltage loop devices, which were  powered by AC, started to become widely known and applied.
In  1898, Tesla published a paper that he read at the eighth annual meeting  of the American Electro-Therapeutic Association in Buffalo, NY. He  states that one of the early observed and remarkable features of pulsed  magnetism was its apparent harmlessness, which made it possible to pass  relatively great amounts of electrical energy through the body of a  person. loops up to three feet in diameter were used for magnetically  treating the body without contact, though ten to a hundred thousand  volts were present "between the first and last turn”. Tesla concludes  that bodily "tissues are condensers" in the 1898 paper, which is the  basic component (dielectric) for an equivalent circuit only recently  developed for the human body. In fact, the relative permittivity for  tissue at any frequency from ELF   (10 Hz-100 Hz) through RF (10 kHz-100  MHz) exceeds most commercially available dielectrics on the market.
This unique property of the human body indicates an inherent  adaptation and perhaps innate compatibility toward the presence of high  voltage electric fields, probably due to the high trans-membrane  potential already present in cellular tissue. Tesla also indicates that  the after-effect from his loop treatment was certainly beneficial.

Dr. Antoine Priore

Dr. Antoine Priore’s  electro-magnetic therapy machine was perfected during the 1960’s and  early 70’s while a team of leading French scientists demonstrated  conclusive, total remissions of terminal tumors and infectious diseases  in hundreds of laboratory anima - all funded by the French Government.   Complete remission of the treated diseases was attained, and the  animals’ immune systems were all restored to normal.
Antoine  Priore began working in 1944-45 on the development of an  electro-magnetic device which cured cancer. He received backing and help  from some very interesting and courageous individuals including the  world-famous immunologist Dr. Raymond Pautrizel of the University of  Bordeaux, who did all the animal work.  Dr. Pautrizel took the research  in another direction using the machine to treat sleeping sickness in  animals, which was his specialty. Sleeping sickness was of primary  concern to Dr. Pautrizel because of its prevalence in tropical  countries.
When he injected rabbits with the pathogen trypansome,  which causes sleeping sickness, the rabbits would all die within 72  hours. But when exposed to the Priore device, these same rabbits would  live. Yet their blood was still teeming with the trypanosomes which  could be extracted from the radiated rabbits and injected into other  control rabbits, which would then die. This implies that the machine was  doing something electro-magnetically to the rabbits’ immune systems  such that they were able to fight off a lethal disease which would  normally kill them in 72 hours!

 Georges Lakhovsky

Georges Lakhovsky’s  philosophy was that "the amplitude of cell oscillations must reach a  certain value, in order that the organism be strong enough to repulse  the destructive vibrations from certain microbes." He goes on to say,  "The remedy in my opinion, is not to kill the microbes in contact with  the healthy cells but to reinforce the oscillations of the cell either  directly by reinforcing the activity of the blood or in producing on the  cells a direct action by means of the proper rays." To prove his point,  Lakhovsky’s Radio-Cellulo-Oscillator (RCO) produced low frequency ELF  all the way through gigahertz radiowaves with lots of "extremely short  harmonics." His book, “The Secret of Life” was first published in  English in 1939. In 1949, a review of Lakhovsky’s work was published as  “Waves That Heal” by Mark Clement. Lakhovsky’s theory is that each cell  in the body of an organism-be it a plant, an animal, or a human being-is  in itself a little radio receiver and works on its own special little  frequency. Each cell, in addition to being biological tissue, is also  electricity. On that theory, he held that pathology was a not matter of  biological concern or intervention, but one of electrical concern and  intervention. The record of his treatment of degenerative disease, with  what amounts to an early "energy-medicine" device, was remarkable and  helped further the groundwork Tesla had begun 50 years earlier.

 Dr. Abraham Liboff

A modern-day physicist  and inventor, Dr. Abraham Liboff is the discoverer of electric-field and  geomagnetic ion cyclotron resonance. This theory reliably explains the  resonant interaction of static magnetic fields with endogenous AC  electric fields in biological systems.
A physicist with Oakland  University, he has helped introduce significant physics principles into  the field of bioelectromagnetics. His "Method and Apparatus for the  Treatment of Cancer" (US Patent #5,211,622) tunes an alternating  magnetic field superimposed on a static magnetic field, to maintain a  combined effect that has the proper cyclotron resonance frequency so  that the neoplastic tissue containing a preselected ion can be treated  to bring about a decrease in the proliferation rate of the cancer cells.  It also can be combined with a chemotherapeutic agent for a synergistic  effect. t is noted in the patent disclosure that "up to 100 days of  treatment will provide beneficial results”

 Dr. Robert Becker

A pioneering medical  doctor in the 1960’s, A pioneering medical doctor in the 1960’s, Dr.  Becker is most famous for his book, The Body Electric, in which he gave  an autobiographical account of his life experiences with  bioelectro-magnetics.
Not only did he establish that the Chinese  meridians of the body are skin pathways of decreased electrical  resistance, but he discovered a host of other bioelectric effects within  the body as well; for example the electrostimulating of  limb-regeneration in mammals. He also worked on electrically stimulating  bone growth with Dr. Andrew Bassett, who along with Dr. Arthur Pilla,  developed a very effective PEMF generator to stimulate bone fracture  healing, now approved by the FDA with an 80% success rate. Similar PEMF  signals recently have been used effectively to prevent osteoporosis even  in patients with an ovariectomy.is most famous for his book, The Body  Electric, in which he gave an autobiographical account of his life  experiences with bioelectro-magnetics.

From the Beginning, The History of PEMF

No history of PEMF would be complete without examining the  therapeutic use of natural energy fields over thousands of years.

Electra-Magnetic Therapy has a long history back to at least Ancient  China, and shows the separate use of two related phenomena that would  later be combined into one method (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field  Therapy):

Magnetism

There are many ancient references to the healing use of magnetite  (the most common mineral with magnetic properties, also known as  lodestone and also used for navigation at sea).

The earliest mention is in the Yellow Emperor’s Book of Internal Medicine, written in China and dated to around 2600 BC,  the earliest known medical text. It describes the placement of  lodestones on specific points on the body to correct various imbalances.  Similar practices are described in the Vedas, the ancient Hindu  scriptures of India.

Further references appear from ancient Greece, with Plato describing  the physician Pliny’s use of magnetite to treat wounds and bladder  problems. The main theory behind these techniques was that they helped  to circulate energies and fluids around the body, an approach that can  be seen with the Swiss physician Paracelsus in the 1500’s, and in 1600 with the Englishman William Gibert, physician to Queen Elizabeth I.

"Torpedo" Ray Fish

Electricity

Pointing the way to modern electro therapy and electro stimulation,  there are various ancient references to the use of electric discharges  from ray fish, or torpedo fish, and electric eels. Both Aristotle in  Greece around 250 BC and the Roman imperial physician Scribonius Largus in 46 AD describe the use of their electrical discharges through seawater to treat arthritis, gout and other pain.

It was not until the 1800’s that the invention of  various electrical technologies made modern electro-therapy possible. In  1800, Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist, invented a type of  chemical battery to generate a steady electric current. And in 1820, Andre-Marie Ampere showed that passing an electric current through a wire coil would produce a magnetic field.

Then, in 1831, English physicist and chemist Michael  Faraday demonstrated the reverse. He created an electric dynamo from a  magnet moving inside a coil of copper wire — the first practical means  of producing electricity in volume. In many ways, Faraday was the father  of modern electro-magnetism.

By the end of the century, a bewildering range of electrical  inventions came from the great Serbian-American inventor, Nicola Tesla.  He was also one of the first electrical engineers to believe that some  electrical fields had therapeutic properties.

PEMF Emerges

In 1932, an early form of PEMF, the Diapulse, was  developed by American physician Abraham Ginsberg and physicist Arthur  Milinowski. It consisted of a large cylindrical applicator device  mounted on an articulated arm for localised treatments. Its primary aim  was in boosting circulation and healing wounds and burns.

In the late-1940’s, post-war Japanese medical clinics began using some early PEMF prototypes.

The 1960’s were an active decade for PEMF  development. Manufacturing began in several countries in Eastern Europe  and the Soviet Union. And in Germany Dr. Rutger Wever showed that  shielding test subjects from sunlight, Earth’s magnetic field, and  atmospheric frequencies led to various mental and physical problems.

They were only relieved by exposure to a PEMF field using the frequencies discovered in 1952 by Dr. Winfried Otto Schumann (later known as the Schumann Resonances).

Still in the 1960’s, Antoine Priore and a team of French scientists  were funded by the French government to test PEMF technology on  laboratory animals, with promising results.

By the 1970’s, Dr. Kyoichi Nakagawa in Japan was  showing that fatigue, insomnia and idiopathic pain common among  industrial workers could be relieved by magnetic fields. PEMF was also  drawing attention in the USA for its use on top racehorses, and Dr.  Andrew Bassett showed that low-frequency PEMF could heal some of the  most difficult types of bone fracture (non-union and delayed union).  This use was approved by the FDA in 1979.

NASA SPACE AGENCY

By the 1990’s, we see the challenge of long stays in  Space with the Soviet Union launching the Mir space station into  near-Earth orbit. It reportedly used PEMF equipment to deliver Schumann  Resonances to those on board.

In the 2000’s, NASA became one of the most active researchers in PEMF. A four-year study that it published in 2003 concluded that it has the potential for “repairing traumatized tissues and moderating some neuro-degenerative diseases.”

In 2005, NASA published “Pulsed Electromagnetic  Fields – A Countermeasure for Bone Loss and Muscle Atrophy” and said  this would become important for longer space flights in the future.

And  in 2009, Dr. Thomas Goodwin and other NASA scientists were awarded a patent for using it to accelerate tissue repairs.

Since 2000, we’ve seen the history of PEMF really  take off as it became increasingly popular with the general public as a  pain relief and wellness technology. The fastest initial growth was in  Austria, Germany and Switzerland, but usage has recently boomed in the  USA and Asia.

PEMF is backed by a mountain of research:  over two thousand controlled clinical studies, and tens of thousands of  research papers. Most have shown positive results, and there have been  no signs of widespread harmful side effects (although field strength  needs to be matched with the intended usage and the state of the  individual user).

PEMF has long been used as a delivery route for  natural frequencies but this is likely to expand significantly in the  future.

We already see it being combined with regulation of circadian rhythms  (our body clock), brain en-trainment (using Sound and Light), music  therapy and bio-feedback (using Heart Rate Variability). The growing  popularity of PEMF, and our exploding levels of EMF pollution, suggest  that magnetic therapy is now entering a totally new age.

Therapeutic application of light and electromagnetic fields to reduce hyper-inflammation triggered by COVID-19

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 – related morbidity is associated with exaggerated inflammation and cytokines production in the lungs, leading to acute respiratory failure.

The cellular mechanisms underlying these so-called ‘cytokines storms’ are regulated through the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signalling pathway and by ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species). Both light (Photo bio modulation) and magnetic fields (e.g., Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field) stimulation are noninvasive therapies known to confer anti-inflammatory effects and regulate ROS signalling pathways.

Here we show that daily exposure to two 10-minute intervals of moderate intensity infra-red light significantly lowered the inflammatory response induced via the TLR4 receptor signalling pathway in human cell cultures. Anti-inflammatory effects were likewise achieved by electromagnetic field exposure of cells to daily 10-minute intervals of either Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF), or to Low-Level static magnetic fields. Because current illumination and electromagnetic field therapies have no known side effects, and are already approved for some medical uses, we have here developed protocols for verification in clinical trials of COVID-19 infection.

These treatments are affordable, simple to implement, and may help to resolve the acute respiratory distress of COVID-19 patients both in the home and in the hospital.
